Kier, a leading infrastructure, construction and developments group, has appointed Tracey Collins as its new sustainability director, giving her the lead on the Group’s commitment to operate as a sustainable, responsible business.
Tracey will take responsibility for Kier’s environmental and social sustainability commitments, set out in its Building for a Sustainable World framework. Overseeing the Group’s focus to sustainability and leaving lasting legacies, Tracey will build on Kier’s standout performance in carbon, as well as its Moving through May campaign which has combined employee engagement and wellbeing with social impact in local communities across the UK.
Tracey has been at Kier for 15 years, most recently holding leadership roles heading up the Group’s approach to emerging talent, social sustainability and diversity & inclusion.
During her time in these roles Kier has been recognised as a Disability Confident Employer by the UK Government, facilitated more than 40 jobs and release on temporary license opportunities to prison leavers last year through Kier’s pioneering Making Ground programme, and grown its employee networks, which promote inclusivity across the group, to over 1,200 people. The Group has also been named as a Top 100 Apprentice employer and been awarded Platinum membership of The 5% Club after seeing the number of employees in learning programmes rise to over 11%.
Ben Stone will continue his role as Group head of environment, with Verity Magee leading social value.
Tracey said:
At Kier, our mission is to shape the future of infrastructure by building with purpose. A commitment to sustainability is at the heart of this – the future we build has to adapt to and protect against changing conditions, as well as creating jobs, infrastructure and opportunities which bring the most value to people across the UK. This is an important role and at Kier we have the skill and commitment to make a real difference, and I’m thrilled to be a part of that.
Louisa Finlay, chief operating officer, said:
Tracey is a vital part of Kier’s leadership team and has done incredible work in her time here enriching the lives of our people and communities. Our commitment to sustainability remains paramount to Kier, and we’re delighted that Tracey will be taking overall responsibility for our strategy moving forward.
Kier continues to strive to be industry leading on operating sustainably, both through using its 360 approach to embed sustainable building practices in all of its projects, and by leaving a positive, lasting legacy for the communities it works in.
