Kier Property, part of Kier Group, has secured planning consent to deliver a high-quality residential development on the former AXA site in Tunbridge Wells, marking a major milestone for the regeneration of the town in Kent.
Kier Property, in partnership with Housing Growth Partnership (HGP), has received approval to deliver 44 new homes, comprising a mix of three-and four-bedroom family houses alongside six apartments.
Planning permission was granted on 16 January 2026, enabling the creation of a thoughtfully designed new neighbourhood in one of the town’s most sought-after residential areas.
The scheme has been carefully designed to meet the needs of modern family living, with a strong emphasis on high-quality architecture, sustainability and placemaking. Set close to attractively landscaped public spaces, the new homes will benefit from excellent access to local amenities, green spaces and transport connections, to support a well-connected and thriving community.
The development reflects the shared ambition of Kier Property and HGP to deliver design-led, sustainable housing that makes a positive and lasting contribution to the local area while responding to the ongoing demand for family homes in Tunbridge Wells.
Leigh Thomas, group managing director at Kier Property, said:
We are delighted to have secured planning consent for this important residential scheme in Tunbridge Wells. The development will deliver much-needed new homes for families and demonstrates our commitment to creating high-quality places in strong, well-connected locations. We look forward to working closely with our partners to bring the scheme forward.
Mike Murphy, Investment Director for Housing Growth Partnership added:
We are pleased to be partnering with Kier Property on this residential-led development. Our investment reflects our commitment to supporting sustainable, high-quality housing in strong regional markets and helping to deliver homes that meet the needs of growing communities.
The planning consent represents a significant step forward for the project and the wider residential pipeline. While the application followed a challenging planning journey, securing approval provides clarity and momentum as the scheme moves towards delivery.
Preparatory works are expected to commence shortly, with demolition followed by construction activity later this year. Further details on the design and sales programme will be announced in due course.
