Kier and Action for Children have today announced a new, two-year corporate partnership which will provide fundraising, volunteering and pro bono support to the charity, which is dedicated to supporting vulnerable people, young people and families across the UK.
Action for Children helped over 680,000 vulnerable children, young people and families across the UK in 2023/2024, working in communities and online to provide the support and help they urgently need. Following a vote open to all of Kier’s c.10,000 employees, it was this incredible work which has led to its colleagues choosing them as corporate charity partner for the next two years.
The partnership will focus on delivering meaningful impact through three key areas, including an aim to fundraise £250,000 to support the vital services and programmes run by Action for Children.
Kier will also encourage colleagues to utilise the volunteering days it offers each year, to support Action for Children’s community initiatives across the country. The leading infrastructure, construction and property firm will also use its professional skills pro bono to help strengthen the charity’s reach and resources.
The foundation of this exciting partnership will be the Building Brighter Futures Programme – a new initiative designed to tackle inequality and enhance social mobility for young people, particularly those with care experience.

"Action for Children do such important work, and we could not be prouder to be partnering with them to support this. Across all of our projects we aim to create lasting benefits for the communities in which we work, leaving them stronger than we found them. Action for Children does this day in, day out, and we will do all we can to help them continue to make a difference to the lives of those who need support most."
Louisa Finlay, chief people officer
"We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Kier Group PLC – an exciting collaboration that reflects our shared commitment to creating meaningful and long-term positive change for children and young people. Kier’s pledge to support our programmes, which focus on helping children and young people in care with transition workers and employability initiatives, demonstrates both a deep understanding of the challenges young people face and a genuine desire to be part of the solution. We are looking forward to working together to build brighter futures and open new pathways for those who need them most.”
Locks Farmer, managing director of income and engagement, Action for Children
Kier has a longstanding commitment to working with charity partners to deliver social value in the communities in which it works, with making a positive difference in those communities a key element of its Building for a Sustainable World framework. The partnership with Action for Children starts as its two-year partnership with Trussell, a charity which works to reduce poverty across the UK, comes to an end, which saw us raise significant funds and providing hundreds of hours in pro bono.
